Revolutionary War marked branding iron with the commissary officer’s name on the branding face. 18 3⁄4”, square iron rod with fishtail end attached to the face plate “8 Brackett” [Titus Brackett] who served at Crown Point in 1775 in General Wooster’s Rgt. He was involved in shipping stores for the attack on Fort St. Jean on the Richelieu River. The siege of the fort lasted nearly a month under General Montgomery on the attack on Quebec. Benedict Arnold also suffered a serious leg wound at that battle. Brackett’s name can be still made out on the band face. Ex DanielSedwick auction
